Memorial Day

Memorial Da
  1. Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.
  2. Memorial day is the last monday of May.
  3. A few ways to show honor and respect on memorial day is by flying the flag, saying thank you, support the military families, attend a memorial service, and keep the history alive.
  4. The Civil War, which ended in spring of 1865, claimed more lives than any conflict in U.S. history and required the establishment of the county's first national cemeteries.
  5. A few things I will do on Memorial day is flying the flag, and saying thank you.
  6. My opinions on Memorial day is that Memorial Day traditionally marks the beginning of summer: families and friends congregate for a picnic or a barbecue, enjoying the weekend. Memorial Day originated from the Decoration Day when people honored soldiers who died in the Civil War. Later the designation of the day expanded to all the men and women who have died in military service. By the late 1860s, Americans in various towns and cities had begun holding springtime tributes to these countless fallen soldiers, decorating their graves with flowers and reciting prayers.Today many cities celebrate Memorial Day with memorial services, parades, public speeches and demonstrations. However, it is important to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day and reflect on how blessed we are to be able to get together with our loved ones on this beautiful spring day. The best way you can honor someone is by saying thank you. Each year on Memorial Day a national moment of remembrance takes place at 3:00 p.m. local time.

IDP

IDP Showcase Experience

My experience was good I liked my group members. The way we chose our group members were by our english tables. The members that I had were Giselle Toro, Rubby Rojas, Imogen Romero, and Krystal Vasquez. We made a good group because we are very hardworking individuals. Our topic was OCD and my part was the action plan. I had to come up with a plan to help anyone dealing with it. I think we did good yesterday presenting. The thing I hated the most was looking for parking. Looking for parking here is the hardest thing that you have to do. Our project came out good and we remembered everything except for one person she kinda forgot what to say but she did good. They only asked us one question and then that is it. After the presentation I went to go buy nachos and a soda and then left home.

Forgive

Student Success Statement

"When a deep injury is done us, we never recover until we forgive."

Alan Paton

This statement means the only way to live and die in peace is forgive the person that did you wrong. Is someone does you wrong what you have to is forgive them. For example to guy that killed two twenty years olds while intoxicated which was his second DUI. He got 22 years in prison but one of the girl mom went to court and plead to sentence his time in half because she forgave him. I would never ever forgive anyone that would ever kill one of my child while intoxicated. They should not have been driving in first place. I would let him/her do there time. Do the crime you do your time. If you can't do the time then don't do the crime. It is not easy just to forgive a person. I could sleep fine and go on what my life knowing the person that killed my child is in prison. Everyone has different ways that they deal with things.

Eight Great Reason to Tell the Truth

Eight Great Reason to Tell the Truth
  1.  Telling the truth lets everyone know what really happened. There's less chance of misunderstanding, confusion, or conflict.
  2. Telling the truth protects innocent people from being blamed or punished.
  3. Telling the truth allows everyone to learn from what happened.
  4. You usually get into less trouble for telling the truth other than lying (and getting caught).
  5. Other people trust more when you tell the truth.
  6. You don't have to tell (and remember) more lies to keep your story straight.
  7. You gain a reputation for being truthful- a trait most people value.
  8. Telling the truth helps you feel secure and peaceful inside.

Barbara A. Lewis
This  statement means that by telling the truth there are many good things that come out of it. These are only eight good reasons but there are so many more. Telling the truth makes people relieved that they don't have to lie to cover up another lie that they said before. Me personally I dont always say the truth. But when I do I don't have to worry about the lie that I said is going to come back and haunt me. Telling the truth can shorter your detention/ grounded time. Telling the truth can save people from getting hurt or getting in trouble.

Stand Alone

Student Success Statement

"Dare to stand alone. Stand up for what is right, even if you stand alone."

Thomas S. Monson

This statement means that you should stand alone even if you are the only one standing. You don't need nobody that is going to take you down the wrong path. You should stand up for what you believe in. Don't let anybody get in your way of your success. Stand up for the right thing and the thing that you believe in. Choose the right always. Be the only one standing it doesn't matter what people think. Its alright to believe and think what you want. Always do the right thing. SSS

Student Success statement

"I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating."

Sophocles

This statement means people would rather fail with honor than win by cheating. Falling honorably is better than winner by cheating. You will not be considered a winner by cheating you way to the endzone. For example the horse race the person riding the horse  cheated his way into the endzone and got caught by a picture someone took of him. Now he considered a cheater instead of a winner. Another example is the wrestling match for the finals when the kid lost honorably he shook the player hand and hugged him then went to the kid father and gave him a huge. Now everyone is a jerk when they lose. Some lose fair and square. Just because you lose doesn't mean the world is ending the competition probably wasn't the one for you. The way to live life is by choosing the right.

Good Values

Student Success Statement

"The most important thing you will ever have is good values."

Image result for dennis prager

Dennis Prager

This statement means that having a good value is greater/ better than having money, love, and happiness. That is what you will need your whe future. That's the only thing you really need in life. Having good values is what is going to get you money, happiness, and love. Without having any good values then you will not be happy in life. You will be miserable and not living your best life. For example the video we seen, If people were to eat anything that they were craving then they will become obese. If you stop and realize that you can't live like that is when you know you have good values. Putting a limit on yourself is what is going to help you become/ be who you want to be.
